Revel Surf Park Opens in Arizona

by Allen

The wave pool trend has expanded further with the official opening of Revel Surf Park in Mesa, Arizona. This new facility brings a fresh surfing destination to the desert, offering a variety of wave types that cater to all skill levels.

Shane Beschen, who played a crucial role in bringing the project to life, shared his excitement: “We’re open, it’s on! What a way to celebrate the holidays,” he told SURFER.

Revel Surf Park is designed to accommodate surfers of all abilities. The park features four distinct wave types, ranging from gentle whitewater waves ideal for beginners, to slow-rolling waves reminiscent of California’s San Onofre, to performance-oriented setups inspired by Trestles. For more experienced surfers, the park also offers specialty waves with air sections and tubes for thrilling rides. Lessons are available for those just starting out, ensuring that there’s something for everyone.

Pricing for sessions is relatively affordable, with beginner sessions starting at $119, while performance-oriented waves are priced at $139 per session. By comparison, an adult lift ticket for Mammoth Mountain, California, costs around $219, making the desert surf experience a cost-effective alternative to traditional ski resorts.

The Revel Surf Park is part of a 37-acre, $280-million retail and entertainment complex, which includes a range of amenities designed to enhance the experience. The surf technology behind the park was developed by Matt Gunn, John Bushey, and Beschen, operating under Swell Manufacturing. Revel is also the first facility in the world to feature both UNIT Surf Pool technology—known for its “endless” standing wave—and a variety of other wave-making innovations.

Future plans for the Revel site include a 115-room hotel, with development spearheaded by Cole Cannon. The complex will be named “Cannon Beach,” tying in with the overall theme of the park.

In addition to the Arizona opening, the team behind Revel Surf Park has already set their sights on expanding further. The next project will be in McKinney, Texas, where the facility will feature similar wave-making technology, as well as a hotel and additional entertainment options. The opening of Revel Surf Park in Arizona marks an exciting step forward in the evolution of wave pool technology and surfing accessibility.
